A rally was held in front of the Parisian apartment of the wife of the Russian Deputy Defense Minister

April 24, 2023

On Sunday, April 23, a massive rally was held in Paris in front of the house of Svetlana Ivanova (Maniovich), the wife of Deputy Defense Minister of Russia Timur Ivanov. Participants of the rally organized by the Anti-Corruption Foundation demanded sanctions against Maniovich, seizure of her property in Paris, and an EU entry ban for her entire family.

Svetlana Ivanova lives in France and launders the money her husband makes on the war in Ukraine there. In particular, Timur Ivanov oversees construction in the occupied city of Mariupol. We covered all this in our recent investigation.

Ivanov himself was sanctioned back in October 2022. Shortly before that he formally divorced his wife. However, this divorce is fictitious. Its only purpose was to make it possible for the family to continue to live and spend money in Europe.

We have already sent letters requesting sanctions against Ivanova to the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of the Interior and its subordinate Department of Foreign Affairs. Our demands were now joined by residents of Paris who came to the picket.

The rally took place on Rue de Babylone in front of the house where Ivanova rents an apartment. The crowd demanded sanctions and held placards with slogans in French, English and Russian.
