ACF explains how to speed up imposition of sanctions on Putin's accomplices

November 18, 2022

Back in May, the European Parliament passed a resolution demanding imposition of personal sanctions against those on our list of 6,000 war enablers. However, they have still not been imposed. Even Putin's ex-wife Lyudmila Ochertnaya has not yet been subjected to sanctions and can still freely travel the world.

Inaction is very costly - every day without sanctions fuels the war. Just imagine how much stolen money Putin's entire entourage has managed to hide since the start of the invasion of Ukraine. We have come up with some ways to push for sanctions against Putin's oligarchs, bureaucrats, and propagandists. One of them is to write to the deputies of the European Parliament.

To write a letter to an MP, you can follow five simple steps:

  • Check which of the people on the ACF 6,000 list have not yet been sanctioned by the EU using our Sanctions Tracker;
  • Select an MP from our list or from the website of the European Parliament;
  • Copy the email address you need and the letter template (you can change the text and add any necessary details, but remember to include your name);
  • Remind the deputy that the recommendation of the European Parliament is being ignored;
  • Tell people in your community that they too can urge local politicians to act.

It is important to use any means to push for sanctions against people in Putin's inner circle. We are convinced that this will force the political and business elites to withdraw their support for him. This is a crucial step to destroy Putin's criminal regime and to stop the war in Ukraine.
