We found Spanish real estate owned by Putin's patriots and propagandists

The Anti-Corruption Foundation has discovered luxury real estate in Spain owned by actor Mikhail Porechenkov and singer and State Duma deputy Denis Maidanov. Both are ardent supporters of Vladimir Putin and his criminal war in Ukraine.

We discovered that Porechenkov owns an apartment in Spain worth about €350,000. Back in 2014, he visited Donetsk, which was seized by separatists with the help of the Russian military and armaments. The Ukrainian Interior Ministry then stated that Porechenkov, as part of an armed gang, had opened fire on the Ukrainian military. He was put on the wanted list. After Putin engaged in an open armed conflict with Ukraine, Porechenkov also repeatedly expressed support for the war. Nevertheless, nine months into the conflict, the European Union has yet to impose sanctions against him. This means that Porechenkov and his family are still free to travel around the world and enjoy life in Spain. 

Denis Maidanov also publicly supports the war in Ukraine. He has repeatedly given concerts in occupied Donetsk and was Putin's trusted representative during the last presidential election in 2018. At the same time Maidanov owns two apartments in Spain with a total value of €650,000. Although Maidanov is under sanctions, his apartments have still not been seized. Moreover, in May he re-registered both apartments in the name of his wife, who is still free to travel around Europe.

Maidanov and Porechenkov are both on our list of war enablers. Both are responsible for the deaths and destruction of civilian infrastructure in Ukraine. Therefore, they must be sanctioned and their property must be seized.
