Igor Sechin, Executive Director of Rosneft, is hiding in the register of the tax service under the name of Sergei Terentyev. He needs the nickname to hide his official income — more than $31 million a year. This is according to a new investigation by the Anti-Corruption Foundation.
Sechin and his alter ego Sergey Terentyev have the same data in the tax register except for their names. Their date of birth, passport number and TIN are the same. We investigated leaked Federal Tax Service data on Russian salaries for 2018 and 2020 and found that Sechin-Terentyev received more than 3 billion rubles a year from Rosneft. He also received 244 million rubles from Russian Regional Development Bank, which is owned by Rosneft as well. Sechin received another 2 million rubles a year from Rosneftegaz, which owns Rosneft shares on behalf of the state.
Thus, Sechin receives a salary comparable to the budget of the entire town of Apatity in the Murmansk Region, where almost 49,000 people live.
